Katherine joins The Headstrong Project as Grant Manager with a passion for furthering our mission and the reach of America’s military mental health care. Katherine began supporting the military community on the Warrior and Family Programs team at the USO of North Carolina before moving overseas. As a Duty Manager for the USO, Katherine worked tirelessly to bring morale-boosting programming to forward-deployed troops in Jordan, Kuwait, and the UAE. After moving back Stateside, Katherine rejoined the USO of North Carolina to assist service members across the State as they transitioned out of the military and back to civilian life. From 2019-2023 Katherine joined the mission at Wounded Warrior Project with a focus on increasing resilience and well-being for veterans dealing with the invisible wounds of war. Following these seven years in the nonprofit sector, Katherine began working as an Account Executive with Orion Talent joining forces with companies Nationwide to bring veterans into the civilian workforce. Over eight years of experience supporting the military has provided Katherine with first-hand experience in this community’s challenges and fueled a desire to expand and enhance mental health support for service members, veterans, and their families.
Katherine holds a BA in Psychology from North Carolina State University and an MS in Human Services: Leadership and Organizational Management from Capella University. Outside of supporting the military community, Katherine loves seeing the world, reading good books, rewatching Game of Thrones, and spending as much time in the sun as possible.
