The Headstrong Project Inc. is a non-profit organization that works to create a more effective and equitable mental health choice for the nation’s veterans, military service members, and their connected families by generating access to quality trauma-informed care and innovating mental health delivery systems nationally.
Currently operating out of 15 states plus the District of Columbia, The Headstrong Project is a team of community-based clinical providers in private practice and others who seek to improve the quality of mental health care. By establishing and managing networks of providers without building brick and mortar facilities, The Headstrong Project maximizes fundraised dollars towards the delivery of care provided by our experienced trauma clinicians.
Position Description
The Clinical Care Coordinator is part of our Clinical Operations Team. Reporting to the Director of Care Coordination, the Clinical Care Coordinator also works closely with the Regional Clinical Director and other Clinical Care Coordinators. The Clinical Care Coordinator is primarily responsible for the client journey of the veterans, military service members and their families who are seeking treatment for post-traumatic stress as well as other mental health conditions. The Clinical Care Coordinator conducts a triage of all potential clients assessing for programmatic appropriateness as well as risk and eligibility; is the primary case coordinator connecting clients to providers within The Headstrong Project network; and assists with quality assurance and crisis management. Clinician must have background and training in utilizing evidence-based interventions in the assessment and treatment of mood disorders, posttraumatic stress disorder and adjustment disorders. The role also offers the potential for providing therapy with an emphasis on delivering evidence-based care. Certification or documented proficiency in one or more of the following EBP’s: EMDR, CBT, CPT and PE is required at time of hire or within a year of employment if providing therapeutic services.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities
- Manage intake process to include staffing clinical intake assessments, case assignments and other clinical protocols on veterans and family members as indicated
- Perform case management processes to ensure clients are connected to appropriate clinical resource(s) within The Headstrong Project clinical network
- Create safety plans for high risk clients during intake/triage
- Work closely with the Regional Clinic Director to appropriately assign clients and communicate regarding capacity across markets
- Capture medical authorization forms, assessments and any other paperwork needed during the intake process
- Utilize Salesforce for all data entry and client communication
- Remain informed about and contribute to monitoring program information and performance, resulting in adherence to program goals and objectives
- Collaborate with and provide ongoing program recommendations and evaluations to the CCO and Regional Clinic Director for continuous growth and quality
- Demonstrate command of HIPAA and CARF and other applicable regulations and codes
- All other duties as assigned
Required Qualifications:
- Master’s degree from an accredited college or university in the Mental Health or related field (LCSW, LMSW, LCAT, LMHC, LPC, LMFT)
- Must possess a current license or be license-eligible within one year of employment
- A minimum of three years’ experience working in a clinical setting
- Knowledge of evidence-based practice, including manualized treatment modalities and measurement-based care
- Must have experience assessing for PTSD as well as comorbid diagnoses (e.g., SUD, depression, anxiety)
- Must demonstrate leadership capacity and ability to foster team-building as well as a supportive, flexible environment
- Must be available and willing to work 1 late night a week as required to meet business needs
- Must have proficient computer skills and command of Word and Excel
Desired Qualifications and Experience Include:
- Experience working with military populations and/or veterans is strongly preferred
- Experience working with Salesforce or other CRM platforms is strongly preferred

Location: Remote locations within the continental United States
Position Type: Full-time, evening hours required as needed by The Headstrong Project Clinical Operations
Compensation: Salary range for position ranges from 60,000 to 75,000 and is commensurate with experience. Excellent benefits package including comprehensive health, dental, vision and life insurance, 23 days PTO per year.
