Carletta R. Vicain, LMFT recently joined Headstrong as the Deputy Clinical Officer. As the daughter of a Marine and sister to a Navy physician, she understands, first hand, the world of the active duty and veteran military community. She has dedicated her career to serving and supporting service members and their families.
Ms. Vicain has spent the past 20 years providing quality, effective and affordable mental health to the military community. These experiences include directing multi-faceted evidence based clinical programs for the Marine Corps, Navy, Naval Special Warfare, Army, Air Forces and local Veteran services. She also served as clinician and consultant for a variety of nonprofit organizations who offered services to military afflicted individuals and families.
Carletta provided leadership and clinical support to the FOCUS Program, a UCLA resiliency program for the military, across a multitude of military installations and branches of the military. As the Behavioral Health Branch Head, for Marine Corps Base Kaneohe Bay, she successfully revamped and implemented new USMC behavioral health initiatives centered around evidence based clinical practices and suicide prevention. In April 2021, she received the Naval Civilian Service Achievement Medal, for her outstanding performance in delivering clinical support to service members and their families.
Ms. Vicain, received her BA in Psychology from Azusa Pacific University and her Master of Arts in Marriage and Family Therapy from the University of San Diego. She is a dynamic speaker/trainer that specializes in making therapeutic information relatable and easy to understand. She has experience in Cognitive Processing Therapy, Trauma Focused Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, and Solution Focused Therapy.
